CRAIN'S CHICAGO BUSINESS
Updated: Sep 11, 2022
September 7, 2022, 6:20 AM Rebecca Janowitz, who finished in 5th place in her bid to unseat former Ald. Michele Smith in 2019, reported a $500,000 self contribution to her campaign for 43rd ward alderman on Tuesday, busting the contribution caps for all other candidates in what’s expected to be a costly race to represent Lincoln Park in the City Council. Janowitz is already seeking the appointment to Smith’s now-vacated seat by Mayor Lori Lightfoot. Three others seeking the post–Jimmy Knudsen, Brian Comer and Wendi Taylor Nations–have also launched campaigns to win the seat full-time in next year’s election.
