Wendi Taylor Nations: “Interim Alderman Timmy Knudsen is Funded by Real Estate Industry.”
A story from Crain’s Chicago Business notes that the real estate industry is funding campaign materials for Interim Alderman Timmy Knudsen.
A letter released Monday from former Aldermen Michele Smith and Martin Oberman accused Knudsen of being close to real estate interests. Development is an issue of concern for many 43rd Ward Residents.
"Mr. Knudsen is strongly aligned with the development community as the recent chair of the Zoning Board of Appeals and by the contributions to and advocacy of his campaign by the development community," they wrote. "Most disturbingly, the Illinois Realtors Fund is now openly paying for a major part of Knudsen's campaign."
The story in Crain’s stated; “The spending has become a fairly big issue in at least one ward, the 43rd, where Illinois Realtors funded at least two ward-wide mailers on behalf of appointed incumbent Ald. Timmy Knudsen, the former chairman of the city’s Zoning Board of Appeals. Rivals say that proves Knudsen is too close to real estate interests.”
